How The Furnace Freaks works
We're the middleman, in a good way. You tell us what you need, we find the right pro, and you decide whether to hire them.
- 1
Tell us what's wrong
No heat, no AC or a project you're planning. Takes about a minute online or by phone.
- 2
We hand-pick your pro
A real person on our team reads your request and finds a local pro who's available and right for the job.
- 3
You decide
Your pro contacts you with a price. No obligation. You hire them only if it feels right, and pay them directly.
The safety rules we don’t bend.
In Michigan, work on gas lines, combustion venting, refrigerant and HVAC wiring needs a licensed mechanical contractor, and refrigerant also needs EPA 608 certification. That work only ever goes to licensed partners, and we check their licenses with the state.
Simpler upkeep, like duct cleaning, dryer vents and filter changes, doesn’t need a license. For those jobs we may send a vetted independent tech, which is often quicker to book. If you’d rather have a licensed contractor for everything, just say so.
However you like to do it.

What we are, and what we're not
We're a referral service. We don't do HVAC work ourselves, and we don't set your price. Your agreement, warranty and payment are between you and the provider you hire. We stay in the loop: if something goes wrong, tell us, and providers who don't treat homeowners right lose their spot.
Read our referral termsQuestions, answered
Is The Furnace Freaks an HVAC company?
No. We're a referral and matching service. We connect homeowners with independent HVAC contractors and techs. Your agreement for the work is with the provider you choose.
Does it cost anything?
Matching is free for homeowners. Providers pay us a fee for each request we send them. You pay the provider directly for the work.
Who actually does the work?
A local HVAC pro from our network. Anything involving gas, refrigerant, venting or wiring goes to a Michigan-licensed contractor. Simple upkeep like duct cleaning, dryer vents and filter changes can go to a vetted independent tech, unless you'd rather have a licensed contractor for that too.
Do you check providers?
We verify licensed partners' licenses with the State of Michigan and ask every provider for proof of insurance. You should still confirm license and insurance details with your provider before work begins.
What happens after I submit a request?
Someone from our team reviews it, may call or text you to confirm details, and then hands it to the provider who fits best. The provider contacts you directly to schedule and quote.
